Workers’ Compensation
Employers in New York are required to have workers’ compensation
Employers in New York are required to have workers’ compensation insurance to provide lost wages and medical care to workers who suffer injuries or illnesses as a result of their jobs.
While this seems straightforward, there are many disputes that arise between injured workers and insurance carriers. Insurance carriers often dispute whether an injured worker is entitled to lost wages or the amount of lost wages, deny authorization for medical treatment, or deny that an injury is related to work. The Workers’ Compensation Board resolves disputes between injured workers and insurance carriers and can order insurance carriers to pay lost wages, authorize treatment, and pay medical bills. I represent injured workers in proceedings before the Workers’ Compensation Board.
